We complain so much about our systems' shortcomings & failures, but we don't take it seriously when people propose alternative systems that wouldn't have those kinds of problems.
Why are we taking THIS system seriously? It's driving us off a cliff!

I should add that all those years later, when my dad told me how close he had been to evacuating us during the Three Mile Island meltdown, he still berated himself for not having done it sooner.
