This isn't a natural disaster. Droughts happen. But this crisis is driven by climate change, and the response failure is a choice. A choice to look away. A choice to underfund. A choice to let the most vulnerable pay the price.
Half a million children are SEVERELY malnourished. They need medical intervention to survive. And we're cutting funding.
😲 32 fossil fuel companies are responsible for half of global CO2 emissions in 2024. Kinda weird I guess.
The cause is drought driven by climate change. Rains failed in late 2025. No relief expected until April at earliest. Livestock are dying. Farms are empty. Families are fleeing.
And the world's response? Funding cuts. Aid agencies are reducing rations because the money isn't there. $852 million is needed. A fraction has been received.
Here's what makes this injustice: Somalia produces almost NOTHING of the global emissions causing climate change. But they're suffering the consequences of choices made thousands of miles away.
Weirdly crazy 🤯
Somalia right now: • 6.5 million facing severe hunger • 1.8 million children malnourished • Crops down 83% • Hunger doubled in one year This is climate injustice in real time. Thread 🧵
