Some stray thoughts on gap-filling. Take them for what they are 1. Gaps in archives are not like rips in clothing; they don't have a well defined and wholly known, or in the broadest sense wholly knowable, shape or extent. You can't cut a patch for them or fill them with putty and smooth them over.

What I think of whenever I see a mention of the USMNT
New rules just out. Brits cannot complain about the word soccer (used for years, commonly, to distinguish football codes; people only got weird about it recently). Non British people can (le foot, voetball, fußball, fodbold - they've made a clear choice). Exception: Italians (wtf is calcio?)
This is of course fucked up and repellent. It's also something the blue wave do constantly when talking about "Elonia Musk"
