Les vers de terre sont-ils en déclin en France ? Et sont-ils menacés par les vers plats exotiques ?
📢 Abderrahim BOUHENACHE will soon defend his PhD thesis : "Impacts of #climatechange on crop #production and #nitrogen use: a case study with maize 🌽 under extreme rainfall 🌦️ events in sub-humid Zimbabwe"

Qui sont vraiment les vers de terre ? Un ouvrage récemment publié par deux chercheurs de l’Inrae répond à plusieurs questions importantes sur ces minuscules auxiliaires des jardins.
A 12-year field study from 'Agronomy for Sustainable Development' shows N₂O emissions are driven mainly by mineral nitrogen fertilization, while crop residues have a limited impact. Only the residue carbon–nitrogen ratio affected emissions. bit.ly/3NGwIb2 @fabien-ferchaud.bsky.social #Agriculture
New paper out!
1st paper from Paul Belleville's PhD 👏🎉
How do cover crops modify C and N cycles in the long term? We used the STICS model to simulate the impacts of cover crops on SOC storage, crop yield and N losses in a no-till maize-soybean rotation in the Argentinean Rolling Pampas.
doi.org/10.1016/j.ej...
📣 We have just published a dataset gathering harmonised data from 34 long-term experiments located in temperate croplands. It includes SOC stocks, carbon inputs, soil properties, and climate variables. The dataset is now freely available for evaluating SOC models.

📣 Just out in @commsearth.nature.com
Our paper explores the role of tillage in agroecological systems, discussing the trade-offs between carbon, climate and pest management.
We recommend moving beyond the simplistic view of 'tillage bad, no-till good'.
Open access ➡️ doi.org/10.1038/s432...
📣Just out in @geoderma.bsky.social
We compared two tillage treatments and observed a stratification of C, N, microbial biomass and N mineralization under shallow tillage, but no difference between treatments over 0-30 cm.
These changes were correlated with plant C inputs.

Scientific Data - Data from long-term experiments in temperate croplands to evaluate soil organic carbon models
Tillage can provide key ecosystem services for non-chemical management of cover crops and weeds, pests, and soilborne pathogens, without undermining soil organic carbon stocks or greenhouse gas emissi...

#CroppingSsystem
Crop residues and their management are central to the performance of cropping systems. However, we lack information on the extent to which crop residues influence their N₂O emissions, especially over ...
