With the Megadrive stuff and this emulator, I've probably got enough material for at least a year's worth of blog posts. Talking of which, I need to finish the next installment of the Megadrive sound driver stuff where I confuse then unconfuse myself about how the operators work in the YM2612.
There are a few games that just don't work properly. I suspect there's a trick or five I'm missing out, like the floating bus trick to read the current attribute value being read. One for another day. At least it loads.
Ah well, gets to 0K on the loading countdown (nice touch), has a crack at the border timing effects, then... nothing. I'll give that about 3/10, see me later. Mike did say that this would be a bit of an acid test for any emulator.
It all seems to be playing nicely with his loader so far...
Mike Follin has asked me whether I've tried Vectron on the emulator yet... Let's give it a go.
The only thing stopping this from loading was its use of the archive block. See the text at the bottom-left of the screen. Vortex never released a duff game. This is still one of my favourites. I also used to be very good at it, honest.
More tape loading stuff tonight. There's quite a lot to the TZX format, it seems to support practically any kind of loader that existed back in the day. Certainly more flexible than a TAP file or snapshot. I've got about a third of it implemented now, enough to get a SpeedLock game loaded. And TLL.
