Excited to be at #AEC2025! ShARL will be presenting 4 posters and a talk (NIHR projects on ICF Strengths and Needs Assessment; Community Partnerships using systems mapping for health @victorianewell.bsky.social ; ESRC projects on Student wellbeing and Attention Control; Views on Data Sharing)
A lovely 3rd year student of mine is looking for participants for her dissertation on victimisation and masking among autistic people: CW for questions on experiences of violence. Any reshares/time much appreciated. No funding attached.

ShARL is well repped at the conference:
Vikki @victorianewell.bsky.social - participatory research on underserved adults experiences of primary healthcare
Marianne - feasibility study using the ICF core sets for adult post-diagnostic support
Georgia - SR on autistic students drop-outs from HE
I also started a new position at the University of Sheffield last week, where I’m working on a brilliant project to coproduce health and social care solutions with underserved autistic adults.
While there’s a lot to process at the moment, I’m excited to get stuck in 💪🏻
I am pleased to announce that I passed my PhD viva yesterday with minor corrections!!! Huge thanks to my supervisors @sarahcassisy.bsky.social & Caroline Richards for their support over the years, and to my examiners Will Mandy & Brian O’Shea for a great experience. #PhDone 🥳🎓
Excited to be in Dublin (despite the rain! 🌧️) for the Autism Europe Congress #AEC2025. I’ll be presenting my poster tomorrow at 2pm (P1.01.17), please drop by and say hey if you’re also attending ☺️ Looking forward to hearing about all the brilliant research! 🙌🏻
More broadly, I’m interested in autism research that focuses on:
- Mental health, suicidality, and self-harm
- Improving outcomes and support
- Acceptance and stigma
- Participatory research and coproduction

New paper from my PhD!! 📢
We explored autistic adults’ and professionals’ views on existing self-harm assessment tools.
These tools were not considered acceptable or appropriate for autistic adults who self-harm.

Hello everyone!
I’ve been very overwhelmed with all the changes and pressures that come with finishing a PhD, but I thought I should finally introduce myself on here ☺️
So, my (nearly finished!) PhD research involved developing a new self-harm assessment tool with and for autistic adults.
