"One such scholar was Zahoor Ahmed, a Pakistani associate professor at Bahcesehir Cyprus University, who is known for publishing on average one academic paper every two weeks. As of March 2026, he has never worked on campus at Korea University." Like what are we doing here? 2/
Points to another problem: academic journal publishing needs to die. Academic disciplines are of course different but as a historian, if I'm publishing a paper every two weeks, or even every two months, you know I'm not taking the research seriously. end
University ranking systems have given birth to so many perverse schemes in Korea and elsewhere that I cannot believe anyone takes them seriously anymore. Its a measurement of your ability to game the system, not any actual credentials. 1/ www.koreaherald.com/article/1070...
Politicians in Korea apprehensive about deploying naval units to the Strait of Hormuz as Trump requested. While not politically impossible due to conservative pro-American tendencies and recognition of overlap with other issues in the alliance, it won't be easy www.koreaherald.com/article/1069...
A month ago I wrote an op-ed urging Korea to reconsider its engagement with the illiberal Trump regime and now Trump is demanding South Korea and other nations join his unjustifiable war against Iran. The US is headed places Korea does not want to follow www.koreatimes.co.kr/world/202603...
Sitting Seoul mayor Oh Se-hoon declined to register with the People Power Party as a candidate for the Seoul mayoral election in June. Given the stance of the party towards Yoon and his impeachment he'd likely lose and he's demanding the party alter its position www.koreaherald.com/article/1068...
