It's worth restating how virtually nobody in the UK saw Head at the time of its release. I first saw it at a late night showing at the Bristol Arts Centre in 1977. 'Cult movie' doesn't begin to describe its profile.
Get off that grassy knoll for just 5 minutes Martin!
Ha! One of the few responders I had replied with exactly that kind of algorithmic thinking. And then there was the one who offered truthfully 'my problem Rob, is that I have to sell this to an editorial team who don't even know who Nick Drake is'.
There's a skit in my new novel Drum (it's ok if you don't read it, nobody else has) where I reimagine Oswald still in prison 20 yrs later, delusion and in denial about his role in the assassination and his wife ran off with Jack Ruby. "It's the way I tell them."

Sounds like one of Loog's fly by night schemes to me. I bet he forgot he'd commissioned it by the next morning.
Of course it would help if I knew a single person in that world. I realise it's all about contacts & networking and in that regard I am singularly deficient. I wrote a screenplay for a John Clare biopic in 2015. One person in the industry has read it. They thought it 'promising'.
I genuinely don't know how films even ever get made in this country. I know people in a similar position to you, who have had stuff 'optioned' and then it just disappears into promises and paper work.
Yours in on my list believe me. A favourite subject of mine. x
Talking of luck I was only thinking the other day about how I almost got a series commissioned by R4 in 1992 about my wc childhood. They said yes at the tenders meeting in Manchester but as my producer told me 'Michael Green must literally have changed his mind on the train back to London'.
