It is THE responsibility of "With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility."
The "Canon Event" concept takes the responsibility out of Spidermans hands.
I think the movies are doing this on purpose, that for the characters, the Canon Event is a coping mechanism to soften the brunt of guilt.
You wore him, he vore them.

I know some people think about this kobold, so lay it on me....
So I think the next movie might involve meeting a new Peter, and his living Uncle Ben. He stopped the mugger, realized what would happen if he just stood by, and learned the lesson that way.
Had a random thought about the Spiderverse movies, and a theory about the next one.
In Across the Spiderverse, Miguel O'Hara says that certainnevents in a Spidermans life are fixed points. One of the major ones is the loss of a loved one, like Uncle Ben.
This is going to suck for any Spiderman that had allowed their Canon Event to happen because they learned about this from the other Spiders.
But that will probably teach the lesson too.
To me, this misses an important point of Spiderman and why that moment matters.
Ben Parkers death was an entirely avoidable outcome.
Peter could have stopped the robber, and Ben would have lived. But he didn't, and now he feels directly responsible for his Uncles death.
