there were some parts of both movies where you can tell they're directed by very young people, but that's fine. they're so inspiring.
I can handle an absurd amount of violence and blood and gore, but that scene got to me, I think it's because of the acting and the score.
THE SOUNDTRACK! Kinda reminded me of the game Inside.

that guy is burning in hell, like let's be clear on that, but he has a dramatic scene that's pretty realistically brutal, it kinda made me emotional. i've spent the entire movie anticipating his comeuppance but then that happened and my eyes started to blur LMAO
Obsession is a crazier, SCARIER movie. there's much to unpack thematically, like it's obviously heavier than it looks and presented, I hope people are normal about it despite the absurdity of the horror. it's ghoulish to an extreme sometimes but I mean. it's intentional.
I keep thinking about the backrooms
I'm just glad it's a movie with themes and a plotline and characterization, I feel like it would've been easy to just do the found footage approach (which they did for a time), but they got more ambitious with it. It has something to say.

it's also a creative and pretty looking film. I love the horror, I'm glad they included tangible 'monsters' too, and it's not all cerebral and all about the space and shit. there were some acting choices I found... unfit? (side characters mostly) but it's fine. the leads were great.
something about this salad feels off so I will be bracing myself for a fierce food poisoning and vomiting this afternoon
