Survivors are dehumanized and devalued once more through this process.
If Epstein’s survivors want to speak up, that’s great. Lots of them already have and still are. They’ve been doing it for years before men like this knew Epstein’s name. But they don’t owe us anything.
Actually, we owe them.
When a politician walks back a promise in an attempt to appease the right, constituents can count on two things:
1. More concessions are coming.
2. Any pushback is met with a deluge of people explaining how no one should have expected them to do something as unrealistic as exactly what they said.
Men will literally blame any victim. No one’s off limits. These women have already done so much. They’ve endured abuse, torture, and threats. It’s been years, and they still don’t have the justice they deserve.
There are so many blameworthy people in this story, and this guy still chose survivors.
I see this all the time now: Leftwing men who love to bring up the Epstein files, not because they care about survivors, but because it’s a good political weapon against the enemy party, nothing more. It’s a “gotcha” moment to feel clever online for their hundreds of thousands of followers.
You want a world where survivors speak up? Get out there and build one. Make it so when survivors speak up, they’re believed the first time. Make it so when survivors speak up, they’re not retraumatized. Make it so when survivors speak up, they get the justice they deserve.
Today for @assignedmedia.org, fat trans folks talk self-love, gender-affirming surgery, and why everyone’s always all up in their business.
Because I don’t want to live in a world where trans people have to be small to feel worthy.
Some really crazy cases in here
- cop looked up ex-girlfriend and family in Flock 100+ times
- cop stalked wife giving "test" as reason
- cop searched one plate 395 times in 10 months; was later fired
Cops keep getting arrested for using Flock to stalk people

If sexual abuse was really considered a terrible thing, the world's richest and most powerful people wouldn't be abusers. The most valued technology wouldn't produce sexual abuse on demand. And allegations of abuse wouldn't be framed as positive depictions of masculinity. Our culture rewards abuse.
Today on Assigned Media, @madisyn-writes.bsky.social is centering the experiences of people who are both fat and trans in a piece that lifts up trans voices, and also seeks answers to medical concerns about surgeries for trans people of size.
