Sunset here in central Illinois today is about 8:30PM CDT. I often run a #TenMinMerlin just ahead of sunset. I'm in an area with diverse habitat for birds, and around sunup and sundown I can get an interesting mix. Note: I'm usually not up to record around sunup. ☺️

There are hundreds of species of skippers, in the same family as, but not exactly butterflies or moths. They're small and quick. Many have similar coloration. So my best research suggests this one, seen in central Illinois, is a Delaware Skipper. 🙂

Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme is #RedBeaks, any bird with red on its beak. One obvious choice for much of North America is the Northern Cardinal. Looks like this female is watching me watching her. 🙂

The #BirdOfTheDay alt theme today is #Passerine. That would be what we call perching birds or songbirds, and includes over half of all bird species. Yesterday I saw a few Brown-headed Cowbirds hunting bugs in the yard. This one stopped long enough for a photo. ☺️

Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme is #OutForAWalk, any bird captured walking. This Wild Turkey is walking across the yard in central Illinois. Not walking to somewhere. Not walking from somewhere. Just walking. Sometimes they fly, but it is a Turkey, and mostly they walk. 😁
