I can never understand why world leaders bring their spouses to summits with them. Has anything useful ever come from this? don't they have useful things to do back home? (though @thetimes.com recommends the hotel spa)
I don’t have strong views on the u16 social media ban but if these platforms are so harmful, why does the govt still use them for comms? Likewise, while kids (and everyone else!) should be encouraged to socialise in-person, they now have far fewer options following brutal cuts to youth services

On the latest episode of The Economics Show with Soumaya Keynes, I asked @anandmenon.bsky.social what he would recommend the UK government prioritise when trying to strengthen the UK-EU economic relationship. His answer: don't. www.ft.com/content/660a...
a friend in govt in Australia told me the Oz social media ban is not really aimed at current teenagers .. its aimed at enabling parents to keep the next wave of children off social media. So its aimed at 5 year olds not 15 year olds..
This is the point being made by the Mumsnet spokesperson on the Today programme..
