Reflecting on 20 years of migrant struggles, it goes into what abolish ICE does - and doesn't - mean; merging of immigration enforcement with policing & military power; and how fascism is made through bordering.
Despite resisting it for so long, I also now define the border.
a glaring omission from much of the convo about the Delaney Hall labor and hunger strike imo is the fact that *these people shouldn't be laboring in the first place*
this is slavery, & even the 13th Amendment's 'punishment for a crime' exception doesn't apply!

The Delaney Hall Strike participants haven’t been convicted of anything—and are still being forced to work for nothing.
These transcripts are a disgrace. We can’t trust *anything* done by federal prosecutors in Chicago.
DHS has confirmed this was an ICE "targeted enforcement operation."
The man they targeted, a Polish national, is currently being held in the Miami Correctional Center in Bunker Hill, Indiana, per the ICE detainee locator system.

Earlier today rapid responders reported federal agents detaining someone on Grace & Olcott in Chicago.
A nearby resident got video of an unmarked SUV striking a red car at high speed in the residential area around 10:24 am.
He then described seeing men in tactical vests on scene, one marked "ICE."

A grand juror asked whether the agent could have stopped the SUV: "Isn't the right thing to do to stop?"
Mecklenburg: "Well, didn't you hear the testimony that he said he was afraid to stop because he was afraid they were going to break the windows and pull him out and he would be injured?"
"GRAND JUROR: I heard this case like last week and I thought it was a crock of shit then and I still think it is."
Jon Seidel
The case revolved around a September protest and collapsed last month amid revelations of apparent prosecutorial misconduct during the grand jury proceedings.
