Just a reminder: critiquing federal and state reading policies does not imply support for Lucy Calkins or her curriculum. These aren't binary oppositions.

I dunno, I see some theoretical appeal in three-cueing, but having watched my kids struggle for years in a district that did Calkins badly, I think if you're designing around mediocre teachers working for mediocre administrators teaching a mediocre curriculum you should probably focus on decoding
