One more note: "...the payback period on electric trucks and freight infrastructure shortens dramatically. The companies with the capital to switch first will control the next generation of freight movement." Amazon is already making the switch. Many Amazon delivery vans are electric.
Thanks for the clarification.
Yes, because Bezos needs the money. The problem is that other sources of many products are gone, or ridiculously expensive. Example: Walgreen's and CVS, which have effectively driven local pharmacies out of business, sell many non-prescription products above MSRP.
"...and a handful of strong regional players like H-E-B and Trader Joe's hold their ground."
BTW, Trader Joe's is owned by Aldi.
(con't.) The same process is happening with TV sci-fi. New material and diverse material are risky business. Much better, or so those in charge believe, to just keep recycling the tried-and-true.
Remember when the 500 or so channels of cable TV was going to provide amazingly diverse programming? Then also remember how that promised diversity morphed into Bruce Springsteen's "Fifty-seven channels and nothin' on." (con't.)
Hmm.... It looks like small caps for lower case.
I found the post you replied to.
That's actually a bit frightening, since they don't seem to know how to turn it off, and they are smiling as if everything is okay, but I suspect they are panicking inside!
(con't.) Instead of going for diverse audiences, every cable channel decided to go for larger, more mainstream audiences. Also, less-successful channels were absorbed into more successful channels, such as DIY being absorbed into HGTV, and effectively providing the same formulaic pap. (con't.)
