The Antigonish Reel
The goal here is to try and give Antigonish a chance to free itself from social media algorithms and rebuild a sense of the commons that is the heart of community.
The Reel does the boring work of a utility, pulls in and aggregates local information, events, data. From construction notices to obituaries to gas prices and everything in between.
I'm more and more convinced that Ottawa is planning like a disaster prepper that knows a storm is coming. Not saying this as an excuse, but if you know that storm is on the way it's pretty reasonable that you might be in a rush and that might cause some hurt on the way?
This is all inspired by the foundational ideas of the Antigonish Movement. The idea that communities can build futures for themselves. If our small towns wait for Silicon Valley or Ottawa or anywhere else to come to the rescue, that help will never come.
