Donald Trump is exactly the sort of dumb asshole to try and pull "this isnt fun! I dont want to play anymore!" on a war of choice he launched, not understanding that thats not how it works
to be clear for a sec, if we do actually just bail, that would A. not actually reopen the strait (or would do so, as rory notes, under *EXTREMELY* tenuous conditions), and B. would be an abject catastrophic defeat for the US (loss of lives and *years* worth of some munitions for worse-than-before)
No matter what Trump tells people, if this happens America would be handing a key choke point in the oil based economy to Iran-inexplicably both losing the war and elevating the world’s biggest sponsor of terrorism to an economic superpower
It would be a disastrous outcome, all caused by Trump
