I'm a fan of the 13th century chronicler known as Matthew of Paris. I also post images/videos of birds and animals that visit my birdbath and sometimes, my amateur photos of the night sky. You might know me as "Michael".

#astronomy #conjunction - Tonight's capture of (from L to R) Venus, Jupiter, the Moon and (down low) Mercury. The two stars on the right are Castor and Pollux.
#birds This is a male house sparrow. He's energetically splashing - and all his wet rumpled feathers make him look like a mess (a cute one...but a mess). (from about a week ago)
#birds A female Baltimore Oriole. I've never seen this bird before - so this is special... It's made two visits so far in the last couple of days.
#birds This is a female house sparrow - she is slightly less forceful when bathing than her male counterpart, but she's definitely getting into the splashing part. (from about a week ago)
#birds This is a Gray Catbird. The dark cap on t he head makes it look quite dapper! I think this is the first year we've had this many appearances - I suspect a nesting pair someplace nearby. (this is from about a week ago)
#Astronomy #Sun #Falcon9
This is an amazingly arranged photograph. Kudos to the photographer.

#birds Female Cardinal - the crest of feathers on top of her head are quite expressive. (from about a week ago)
#volcano #pumice #raft #Admiralty-Islands I've seen volcanic rock that floats - which is an impressive thing all by itself. On the other hand, the scale described here is impressive and very wide-reaching.

#birds This is a (very colorful) Northern Flicker. This bird is larger than many that come to the bath, so the camera image clips its head as it lifts its beak to swallow. The color bands on the cheek and back of the head are stunning! (from about a week ago)
