Google says YouTube’s terms of service grant a “broad license” for AI models to be trained on music uploaded to the platform in response to a lawsuit.
google/ yt has always been predatory and waiting for us to give in to feed themselves and their investors' greed. this is the tip of the iceberg
i don't know what to do anymore. youtube is where my main audience is and i hate having to give up on them. and we have a game coming too...
really? we signed our souls off for machine learning from the start? when did they even add the clause that says we gave google/ yt a non-exclusive license to train on our music?? nobody, and i do mean nobody has the foresight to see *this* coming. you do not hate google enough man

I cannot emphasize the degree to which a data center next to a zoo is a massive endless Endangered Species Act violation. If this happens it /will/ be the end of the facility.
Air quality issues kill birds. Constant loud noise destroys animal welfare. Both decimate visitorship. The zoo will close.

chances are i would be still posting to youtube as this is a trap that google has very clearly set up for all of us. this is massive theft and i can't say i didn't expect this especially given that yt has tried training on our videos more than twice
i hate that this is what we live under man
forgot to mention that several music labels have made license deals with google to protect their work (and potentially avoid machine learning). not everyone is affected but most of us are. we self-publish music and covers on our own channels and news like this should have more coverage
