There's also "civic pride". You know what would make me proud? Civically? Not fucking hosting the Olympics, not being a willing dupe for global capital, making treaties with Aboriginal People, building affordable housing and bikelanes instead of stadia, protecting greenspace, a swimmable Maiwar

This is a hostage situation
Flogging the green "possibilities" for BNE 2032 Olympics in the big year of 2026 is just bizarre. How can you reasonably argue that the Olympics will catalyse climate initiatives, after they've already removed the commitment to be climate positive AND scrapped the emissions target? #NOlympicsBNE
Community Legal Centres' submission to the NDIS Senate Inquiry was quick and to the point, but it really summed up how ill-advised both the legislation and the 'consultation' around it is.
"You don’t secure a safety net by cutting holes in it".
They haven't even uploaded 20% of the NDIS Bill Senate Inquiry Submissions, and the Committee is meant to report tomorrow. The government must either extend the timeline, or admit it doesn't care about "unintended consequences".

Reading pro-Olympic papers is so embarrassing - "sure it costs a lot, but can you really put a price on (possibly?) reinvigorating the spirit of volunteerism and (maybe?) encouraging people to get more involved in sport?"
I mean, yes, yes you can put a price on that, it has at least 10 zeroes.
