📜 Our latest 'Will of the Month' post is live on our blog: sites.exeter.ac.uk/materialcult...
It explores the will of an C18th widow of Greenwich who bequeathed land, property, and bonds in the East India Company, but left only 1 shilling to her 'undutifull son' 🪙
Mary Skelton was a Greenwich widow whose will was proved in 1725.
In this post @emilymayvine.bsky.social shows how she used her will to reward one son and punish the other.

Very few sign-ups for the in-person document sessions on 16 and 17 June. Please circulate with PhD students etc who use legal records in their research (or I won't be able to run the sessions this year). I can promise witchcraft, treason, and all that good stuff (if it runs). Details via the thread.
This is a brilliant and really friendly regular pub night - I've met so many great people over the years (and discovered so many great historic pubs). Do message Anna if you're interested in dropping in, now or in the future 👇

📢 NEW WILL OF THE MONTH POST 📢
May's post explores a Greenwich widow's will which exhibits some clear favouritism📜
One son received the bulk of her estate, the other 'one Shilling and no more because of his undutifull behaviour' 🪙
