Our next and final event of this academic year is on Thursday 4 June! Melissa Calaresu will be giving the following paper ‘Painting by Numbers: Writing the Life of Thomas Jones (1744-1803)’. Thomas Jones was known for his strikingly exact portrayals of urban Naples: www.history.ac.uk/news-events/...
Using sketchbooks, account books, and recipes, Melissa Calaresu (Cambridge) will discuss some of the methodological problems of piecing together the life of Jones and his family from the numbers, images, and words which have survived. The event is in-person only (IHR Wolfson Room NB02). All welcome!
Sketchbooks, account books, signatures, and recipes... join us TODAY (5.30 pm) for our last event of term as Melissa Calaresu (Cambridge) discusses writing the life of the painter Thomas Jones across London, Rome, and Naples. In-person only, Room NB02 at the IHR: www.history.ac.uk/news-events/...
Just a reminder that Erin Maglaque @erinmaglaque.bsky.social is speaking TODAY at 5.30 pm! For those of you who have missed registration, do feel free to just turn up (we can always find more chairs!) or send us a direct message for a Zoom link on bluesky or at [email protected]! ✨📚
