Really excited to have this new article out: "Six Myths of Judicial Independence" Since I began this project it has become increasingly relevant. The Rule of Law depends upon free and independent courts - but what this means is beset with myths www.uwa.edu.au/schools/-/me...

Any public lawyers suffering existential ennui should note that Trump's tariffs are possible thanks to (i) a sweeping transfer of Congressional taxation powers to the executive under an emergency powers rubric & (ii) case-law hollowing out the US non-delegation doctrine. See, we matter!!

Delighted to see this volume on the shelves. Thanks to Roberta Bassi @hartpublishing.bsky.social, @bloomsburybooksuk.bsky.social and to all the authors . Some wonderful writing in here, which I hope is widely read: the chapters are also available on Bloomsbury Collections Online.

This is a genius way of dealing with the scourge of AI summaries, not to mention the added enjoyment that it will bring to tax research.
My warmest congratulations to @amy-lawton.bsky.social for her appointment as the next Chair of the Tax Research Network and to Terry Filer and Sara Closs-Davies for their appointment as Deputy Chairs. These are fantastic appointments and point to a bright future for the organisation.
Sens. Chuck Grassley and Maria Cantwell just introduced a bill to reassert Congress's power over tariffs. The Trade Review Act of 2025 says a president must notify Congress about new tariffs within 48 hours of imposition. It requires Congress to approve them within 60 days or they expire.
