If I'm working with a commercial company, then yes, absolutely, I get the mission. But as an individual developing something, I'm beginning to maybe understand part of the conflict between doujin and indie developers in Japan that I was learning about in the mid 2010's from a friend over there.

I think about this GDC often when I was discussing my next project with some people, a thing only playable on classic Macs or emulation, I was immediately met with, "But how are you going to make money off of that?" Which caught me off guard. That's not the goal. Would be nice, but not the goal...
Everyone in that area so desperately wants to be the H&M fast fashion of media. Every time I see stuff like that I'm stunned at how much they miss the point. But I guess the point for them is just produce and sell, produce and sell. That's all that matters, right? Nothing else matters!! Fuck life!
