Echoing this sentiment: Listening to your users and taking their feedback to heart is one of the core principles of good UX design. No, your users ARE NOT the developer. YOU ARE. But your users are THE USERS of your project. They want you to know what you can do to make it better. LISTEN TO THEM.
In other words, a foundational requirement of good UX, as I'm sure any designer would tell you, is understanding the needs and expectations of your users. And this means accepting the fact that a lot of what your users will want or need will be fundamentally different from what /you/ want or need
