Snowdon lily is known by many names, e.g. Lloydia & my favourite is in Welsh Brwynddail y mynydd which translates as rush-leaves of the mountain. This describes its glossy, grass-like leaves very well. lloydia is an old name for it and given to Edward Lhuyd who first discovered it in Eryri in 1682.
