D.J. MacHale. He’s mostly known now for YA fantasy, but he created Are You Afraid of the Dark? It inspired myself and a generations of others to embrace dark storytelling. I think we should be discussing him in the same breath as R.L. Stine. And he kinda blurbed my book!

#HorrorWritersChat Arthur Conan Doyle. I know he is famous for mystery, but The Hounds Of Baskerville should count as horror.

Erm. Hmm. Uh. Welp. I.........don't know a lot of underrated horror creators from the 20th century. I mean...what is "underrated?" I really like Algernon Blackwood's story "The Willows" - good early weird horror there, but I don't know if it's "underrated." #horrorwriterschat

I'm going to go with Diane Guest. I read her book Lullaby because I was doing a challenge where I had to read a book from the year I was born, and it was really good. I haven't read anything else of hers yet, but I would like to in the future.

Thanks for another delightful #horrorwriterschat @marywyrd.bsky.social ! I'd like to promote a friend's book that just came out: Bullets and Balloons: Crime, Culture, and Comic Book History by Dale Berry . Has some horror in there too. Nonfiction. #horrorwriterschat
