For those in the back: previous presidents weren't soft on Iran. They were realists about the realities of the Gulf - something the current administration claims to be but instead it's magical thinking all the way down.

Look, I know it's hard to wait for you Kalshi bet to resolve but maybe don't give oxygen to the president's bad-faith arguments about mail-in voting.
I may be critical of the administration, but I am a firm believer that forewarned is forearmed, and that there are bad people who wish to do the American people harm. This makes every American less safe. Full stop. www.nytimes.com/live/2026/06...

Trump Administration Live Updates: Housing Official and Enforcer Named Top Intelligence Chief
The medium tail of a ridiculous moment in American history.
Here's a thought: perhaps judging a society by how well it makes work compatible with life might be a different way of measuring success.
The 11 metros targeted by this policy account for over a quarter of US GDP. I don't think this policy will actually be rolled out, but simply discussing it is a terrible idea and yet another sign that the GOP does not care about the economy - they care about hurting people who don't agree with them.

I'm mostly business and odd thoughts here at @bsky.app but I do have other sides of me. For example, I've been drumming in punk, indie, and post-hardcore bands for 30 years. My newest project, LeBaron, finally has some music to share! lebaronmusic.bandcamp.com/track/waste-...

Waste Not Want Not, by LeBaron
Four days after the primary election in California, the races for governor and Los Angeles mayor remain unresolved. The state relies heavily on mail balloting, which slows the tally because of the work involved to check signatures, open envelopes and inspect ballots before counting them.

lmao "shortly before...the war on Iran, the country conducted live-fire drills in its coastal waters. Iranian state media publicized the exercise, whose official name made its purpose clear: “Smart Control of the Strait of Hormuz.” www.nytimes.com/2026/06/02/u... How SHOCKING this is what happened.

Deluged With Mail Ballots, California Takes Its Time Counting Votes Again
Experts say speeding up the count in California would take more resources, but also scaling back rules that expand voting access.

Sen. Marsha Blackburn, now running to be Tennessee's governor, called on social media for the firings of three college or university officials in that state for Charlie Kirk posts. One has received a $500,000 settlement (other two are suing). www.cbc.ca/news/world/u...
Markwayne Mullin: "If CBP isn't there processing international flights, then those individuals when the airlines land won't be permitted into the United States. If things don't change, we're gonna have to make this step pretty quick."

Tariffs didn't encourage re-shoring of musical instrument production - in fact, they did the opposite, spurring further offshoring and eating the seed corn of the US musical instrument manufacturer's customer base: student musicians. www.piie.com/blogs/realti...

The Trump administration argued that steeply higher tariffs on imported goods would spur a wave of reshoring and reinvestment in US manufacturing. For musical instruments, that hasn't happened. Instea...
