I commented in my review of #OnTheBlueTrain, allowing the reader to suspend disbelief is surely the gift of a good book. I'd say the same about the #CurseOfIshtar film! βββββ 𧡠#AgathaChristie #films #books
Like the film, the novel is an "alternative history" of the eleven days in 1926 when β in a mystery worthy of Poirot β #AgathaChristie disappeared after the revelation of her husband's infidelity. 𧡠#films #books

I watched Agatha and the Curse of Ishtar the other night. It's a 2019 British alternative history TV drama about #AgathaChristie 's 1928 trip to an archaeological dig in Iraq following her divorce, where she meets the love of her life (true story) and solves a murder mystery (the alternative part).π§΅
It's these eleven days that #KristelThornell beautifully fictionalises in her novel. Although I knew the real-life outcome for #AgathaChristie, as we neared her last days at Harrogate, I willed "Teresa" to choose a different path. 𧡠#films #books
Christie's disappearance caused a national and international sensation, with her photo on the front pages of newspapers and thousands joining the search for her. 𧡠#AgathaChristie #films #books
I enjoyed the #CurseOfIshtar, and it reminded me of a novel I read and reviewed for Writing NSW in 2018, #OnTheBlueTrain by the Australian writer #KristelThornell. π§΅
