Data Centers Can't Pass Their Energy Costs to Consumers
The law requires large-load customers adding 75 megawatts or more of demand to sign long-term agreements covering infrastructure costs tied to their projects, rather than spreading those costs across the general rate base.
Seattle City Council voted 9-0 to impose a one-year moratorium on new or expanded large data centers, making Seattle the largest U.S. city to pause such projects.
