The Rotherhithe Tunnel was created by the London County Council and opened in 1908 by the Prince of Wales. It then took horse-drawn traffic and pedestrians between the London Docks on the north of the river and the Surrey Commercial Docks on the south side.

The wine merchants Berry Bros. & Rudd continue to trade from the same premises where they were founded in 1698 by Widow Bourne. Over the centuries it has continued to be owned by descendents, the Pickering, then the Berry families. In 1920 the Rudd family also joined the company.

During the 12thC the priory of the Order of the Knights of St. John was established just outside the City of London at Clerkenwell. It was dissolved by Henry VIII and most of the knights went to Malta. All that remains are its South Gate and parts of the priory church.
The quiet and very small Brabant Court lies surrounded by the skyscrapers of the City of London's financial district. No.4 Brabant Court was built in 1710 for the family of a wealthy merchant and remains as a house for private events and filming.
