I'm really excited to share a new preprint! Lab studies have consistently shown that stress and negative emotions make people drink alcohol, but studies of daily life (EMA) keep failing to find it. What does that mean for the shared theoretical prediction both designs test? osf.io/preprints/ps...
This reflection from David Jobes on his career and working with suicidal individuals is beautiful. Thanks Dave ☺️

Great work from @jonasdora.bsky.social . With a computational model of drinking choice in EMA, he shows that stress does bias people's preferences for alcohol relative to NA beverages. This replicates prior lab findings, but shows in EMA, the mean choice for alcohol is lower.
It felt like a long shot but my submission to chair a symposium at the Society for Research in Psychopathology Meeting was accepted! ✨
I’m super excited to discuss how complementarity, or how people match in interactions, can help us understand the context in which personality pathology manifests ☺️
A paper I was really excited about after three rounds of revision

I just returned from two back-to-back conferences. Students, I noticed that a lot of your slide decks had an oddly similar layout structure and I was able to confirm in conversations that these were AI-generated/assisted.
Some thought about this for your own professional development: 🧵
