If you want to tell stories that are "large, durable, real, frightening things" then you owe it to yourself and your readers to take the moral significance of what you're writing seriously.

Abandoning purity politics means letting trans women and our "crazy positions" like equal rights into the tent. You can't reject people who want to pee in public restrooms or stop genocide without instituting a purity politics of your own.
