WHO risk assessment: DRC -Very High Uganda and neighboring countries charing borders with countries experiencing active cases - High Rest of Africa and the world - Low The outbreak is serious but the response is slowly catching up. Hoping for the best.
Access for epidemiological investigations and contact tracing has been challenged by acts of violence towards healthcare workers and emergency responders highlighting the need for continued efforts to build trust within fragile and distrustful communities.

WHO published the latest situation update on the Ebola outbreak. confirmed cases are now at 534 including 93 deaths in the DRC. CFR is about 17% but likely underestimate as investigation seeks to confirm cause of death from earlier in the outbreak. www.who.int/emergencies/...
Uganda is at 19 cases. All of the linked to travel from DRC or exposure in health care settings. No evidence of community transmission so far. Testing is slowly improving, contact tracing is improving. Epicenter is Ituri province of DRC with 94% of cases .
