I was thinking about the message it sends to our team that the O’s might happily engage in retaliation — and to Gunnar that there’s a right way to be intentionally hit at 94 mph — but I didn’t even think about the message this sends to Gibson. Eesh. What an all-around bad response.

Yes, it would have been very easy to say something like this instead of endorsing retaliation and sending the message to Gibson that if he makes a mistake again his teammates deserve to take one in the ribs and it’s his fault.
