Taking the husband and the bestie to a screening of The Old Dark House (1932, James Whale) tonight. Excited, but it's at a venue where you can bring snacks and I'm mad at myself for not cooking up a bunch of potatoes to pass around (IYKYK).
This is going to be fun!
And as with Curse, you can find excellent in-depth commentary on Revenge of Frankenstein from @househammerpod.bsky.social and the Hammer Time podcast with @bunnydarke.bsky.social and @eofftv.bsky.social highly recommend!
Hey, what about those Hammer Frankenstein films? Well, I'm glad you asked. The second entry is Revenge of Frankenstein (Fisher, 1958) and it competes with Curse for series favorite in my book!
We filled our house with amazing queer friends this weekend for fun and flaming cheese, 72-hour short ribs and miso cod, three kinds of sake, six kinds of coffee, and a screening of this fabulous favorite of my childhood. Hollywood is one of my first queer heroes!
Notably, Mannequin was also recently covered by @peacheschrist.com and @michaelvarrati.bsky.social on the @midnightmasspod.bsky.social
I recommend watching, reading, and listening! An interesting double feature with Xanadu or Weird Science? (Very different thesis statements depending on which...)
