Solar just produced more electricity than coal in the US for the first month ever and it won't be the last... Over the last two decades, the role of coal and solar in the US mix has changed drastically May 2006: 🪨 48%, ☀️ 0% May 2016: 🪨 26%, ☀️ 2% May 2026: 🪨 12%, ☀️ 13%
The U.S. spent $11B in the first week of the Iran War and have spent many times that in weeks since, dwarfing the subsidy China has given solar panels. This war is all about oil and is another example of how our entire society is effectively built around enormous subsidies for fossil fuels. 🔌💡

I am working on my public comment. All scientists should do so, this would be devastating to US science and the innovation and leadership that has been a real gold standard.
"People in the US are poised to endure another summer of unusually ferocious heat and there will be little respite in the years ahead, with a new study finding that the coming 15 years could see a doubling in hospitalizations due to heat-related illnesses."

The $18 billion spent on subsidies for solar manufacturing by China since 2000 is half of what the US has spent on subsidies for oil every year since 2000. There is no starker illustration of how badly US industrial & energy policy has been bungled. #EnergySky #ClimateSky #GreenSky #EconSky
