Scotland plays in the World Cup tonight, crank it up to a million

The “massive national security surveillance state that was built after 9/11 has always been a threat to freedom,” EFF’s Cindy Cohn told @democracynow.org, so FISA Section 702 must be reformed to require warrants to search the data, or must be allowed to expire. www.democracynow.org/2026/6/11/c...

Seeing Alexi Lalas' smug dumb face on my TV again for the next 30+ days reminds me of this brilliant (and still relevant) article written by @drewmagary.bsky.social www.sfgate.com/sports/artic...
NEW: Since the 1980s, skaters from across the East Coast have appreciated D.C.'s plazas, fountains, and granite edges. President Trump's efforts to “beautify” the District are accelerating efforts to limit skating in these iconic spaces, William "Phresh Ingredient" Clarke IV reports.

A key provision of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act is set to expire Friday unless it is reauthorized by Congress. Section 702 allows for the warrantless surveillance of foreign nationals believed to be outside of the U.S., yet, in practice, it also sweeps up and stores vast amounts of data from people inside the country, including their emails, texts and cellphone data. Buttigieg: We sit in a in a country that's got the wrong number of people on the Supreme Court, possibly the wrong number of representatives in the House of Representatives. And by the way, when you consider the disenfranchisement of the people of DC, we have the wrong number of states in the US

Not sure the comments about the USMNT overwhelming a third-rate Paraguay team are realistic. By ELO, Paraguay rated ahead of the US before last night. (They're now tied.) Opta had Paraguay 30th and the US 36th before the tournament. Paraguay beat Argentina and Brazil (at home) in qualifying.
