BARCELONA • TRADITIONS Love its People & Places. Traditions give a sense of belonging. AAA: All Ages & Abilities. And backgrounds. HEALTH & HAPPINESS.
20 PEOPLE WALKING are killed EACH DAY in the US. They are NOT accidents; they are INCIDENTS that could have been avoided IF city & state had wanted to. Same trend many countries, Canada, AU... others. Lower speed limits. #VisionZero enforced: policies & actions. Smart Growth America: bit.ly/4uFjprn
WALKING • BREATHING • SLEEPING Cities must make WALKING a top priority. It's how humans were created: birds fly, people walk. We should walk 30+ minutes a day. Cities must make it SAFE & ENJOYABLE. 'Magically' it'll improve our HEALTH: PHYSICAL + MENTAL + SOCIAL. #NoExcuses

It's a COLLECTIVE SHAME upon our country. Upon each of us. • 60% unhoused Canadians have “mental health issues” • 26% homeless are over 50; double 2009 • Imagine being 70 or 80, thrust to live in the streets • 1/4 seniors earn u-$23K; 1br rent $18K bit.ly/3QC6yrZ
What makes this a nice NEIGHBORHOOD STREET? • Trees • Sidewalks • Safe mix car & bikes • Parking just one side • Humps each 50 meters • 30 Kph (20mi) max speed Equity? Seems to be the standard in upper income neighborhoods of Toronto, but rarely seen in lower income. Why?

What if... everything we did in cities had to consider as priority the well-being of the 0 - 4 year old and caretakers? We'd have better neighborhoods for everyone. Creating this culture includes big investments and small but useful details, as baby chair at a Copenhagen library.
