How's this for a feedback loop?
Ice sheets build up lowering sea level → reduced water load leads to increased mid ocean ridge volcanism after a 10-20 kyr lag → volcanism releases iron → iron causes plankton blooms → atmospheric CO₂ goes down → ice sheets build up

Increased hydrothermal iron inputs from mid-ocean ridges, triggered by ice-age sea-level falls, supported higher surface primary productivity during the last two glacial terminations, according to pro...
#Canada, you too?
@jysuarezibarra.bsky.social, Marie Curie postdoctoral fellow in our lab, was particularly enthusiastic to attend the @goldschmidt-confer.bsky.social conference this Summer.
But, because Jaime is Colombian, you rejected his visa application.
Researchers uncovered an enormous deep-sea accumulation of whale remains in the southeastern Indian Ocean, showing long-term, specialized ecosystems and an extensive fossil record that offers new insight into deep-ocean biodiversity and whale evolutionary history.

Thick exposures of Quaternary sediments in the Churchill River area record at least three glacial-interglacial cycles and provide valuable insights into past glacial dynamics and interglacial climates. A fun area to work in.

Quaternary terrestrial stratigraphic records are key to understanding the long-term behaviour of past ice sheets beyond the most recent glaciation. Glacial sediments provide important information on i...
