In this moment, people need leaders to provide real solutions to real challenges. This reckless, costly coal bailout, which will enrich a handful of coal executives at the expense of everyone else, unequivocally isn’t it.
Taxpayers are on the hook for propping up ready-to-retire coal plants while the Trump administration slashes safeguards around harmful coal plant pollution.
That means more mercury, toxic wastewater, coal ash, and carbon dioxide coming to a community near you—all at a higher cost than renewables.
