A Paramount-WBD merger would hit Atlanta *hard*: - 6K in predicted layoffs will hit ATL heavy due to overlapping back-end ops - Turner/WBD’s Techwood campus may be sold - Fewer films = less work for Trilith, Assembly, Shadowspace - This comes AFTER huge cuts at TCM, Adult Swim & Cartoon Network
Way I look at the council vote is that Andre had 8 votes in his pocket. Dozier had caved to Mayor & Downtown Biz elite pressure . No point in pragmatists voting No when it's going to pass. Potential Nos: Matt, Alex, Mary, Thomas, Eshe (5). Actual Nos on principle: Kelsea, Liliana (2)
That's sure what it looks like. Kemp figures Dooley's going to lose for senate, which means Kemp loses face. So back the guy who'll either win for governor or who at least has Trump's blessing. When Ossoff beats Collins, Kemp can say shoulda run Dooley.
Maria had me at "multiple catalytic events swirling around him"! 'Catalytic' is Atlanta-Way speak for 'unjustifiable subsidy of Big Real Estate Projects.' Shaddi Abusaid, new @ajc.com city reporter, does much stronger reporting. Hope his bosses don't notice!
This UNPAID Atlanta resident thanks Kelsea for yanking the Overton Window on TADs leftwards. Without that, Andre might by now be handing our money off to the downtown business elite.
AJ Willingham quips that MB Stadium is "Like a Decepticon from “Transformers” was cursed by a witch to live forever as a bundt cake." She might have added that it's costing Atlanta $900M of public money. click-em.ajc.com
Who cares which MAGA GOP voters pick for Gov. & Senate? The votes that will make a difference today are for the Fulton county commission. Pitts & Morris will keep our TAD $$$ from going into the Gulch & Stitch. Instead they'll use the $$$ to fund desperately needed Jail redo & S Fulton hospital.
The stakes are clear in tomorrow's runoff for Fulton County. You can choose Pitts & Morris to protect our tax money from Dickens's TAD developer scheme. Or you can choose their opponents and face a 20% tax increase to cover the Jail redo and S. Fulton hospital.
If more counties did what we just got Fulton to do - taxing data centers on fair value ($5B instead of $100M, costing them $85M/yr) - the AI reckoning would come much sooner.
Good account of the mayor's TAD grab's status, including comments from me. Vote today in the Fulton runoff for Pitts & Morris & tell friends. Pitts & Morris won't extend Fulton's part in big TADs. Their opponents will and your $$$ will end up in Gulch & Stitch. www.ajc.com/news/2026/06...

From $5 Ubers to metered intelligence: Anthropic’s pricing plan panic unfolds in real time. When your GPUs are maxxxing out and you can’t quite decide what to charge for any of it, it’s not just your users who are confused. The datacenters are running hot, the subsidies are being cut back, and... 1/
