Boots' chemists and opticians are too important to leave to the market. The government needs to intervene to preserve them.
In cinema, I think what's changed recently is that it's got much cheaper to make professional-quality movies on very small budgets.
Combine this with general audience fatigue for superhero blockbusters / Pixar-style animations and suddenly the door is open for young and unproven talent again.
