I think the animation looks okay, at least in the small clips we're getting, but I agree it looks unnaturally glossy and textureless. I think it has something to do with the lighting and the color palette. Too bright, not enough contrast.
Yeah, I compared Rayearth to some shots of Frieren because they're both that modern type of anime. Frieren is darkly lit with small bursts of light which both make the art pop, but also help guide the eyes around the scene. Rayearth is lacking that. It makes everything look flat and unfocused.
Not that I think Rayearth should look like Frieren.
Yeah. I like Rayearth so I'm hoping for the best, but also bracing myself for Sailor Moon Crystal round 2.
I hate the AI bro argument that AI "learns" just like a human learns. Last I checked your average human isn't a water and electricity guzzling, community ruining data center owned by billion dollar corporations hellbent on destroying everyone's livelihoods by weaponizing their own work against them.
And the entertainment industry continues to be ruled by executives terrified to give original IPs a single chance.
"Oh, you want to make a show out of that popular new book series that's sold 20 million copies and has a rabid fanbase? Nah, I'd rather spend a billion dollars on LOTR fanfiction."

Had a coworker try to convince us women to "ignore the skeevy feeling Pierre Poilievre gives you" and vote for him anyways. We did not.
Everything has been so enshittified that the older version might actually be better.
It's not even close to just Hershey. So much food I used to love years ago now tastes bland, chemically and inferior. I thought my tastebuds were dulling, but when cook food at home from scratch it still tastes exactly the same every time.
People don't call themselves chefs because they ordered food off of Doordash, yet they'll call themselves musicians because they ordered a song from Suno, or artists because they ordered a picture from Gemini.
