This is a great example of the old adage ‘if you don’t like something, you don’t really have to comment.’
Just scroll on. Especially if you’re not part of the conversation; it’s just a few likeminded writers having a natter.

Disappointing that a post started with not wanting to gatekeep writing advice and ended up with extremely gatekeepy comments. Some people write a passable or even a good first draft. Some people don't work that way. Just because a first draft is bad doesn't mean the author should give up on it.

Yeah, I never understood writers who say their first draft is shit. If my first chapter is shit, I give up on it and go to the next idea. What’s the point in persevering with a shit book?
