Disappointing that a post started with not wanting to gatekeep writing advice and ended up with extremely gatekeepy comments. Some people write a passable or even a good first draft. Some people don't work that way. Just because a first draft is bad doesn't mean the author should give up on it.
I have a new book out today. If you like heartbreaking, working-class dystopia on your pages as well as in your life then boy do I have a story for you 😅

Yeah, I never understood writers who say their first draft is shit. If my first chapter is shit, I give up on it and go to the next idea. What’s the point in persevering with a shit book?
