People are living in their own private realities. Everyone gets their own bubble.
At first that bubble is what they choose it to be, and that's telling... But after a while their views are shaped by what they consume, not vice versa.
And they feel the same way about you.
I don't know the answer.
And unfortunately I'm not likely to be around at the next big birthday, the 300th (or if I am not likely in much physical condition to celebrate 😂) so it is a loss of a once in a lifetime event.
Maybe it's an opportunity to think more broadly about our 250th. I lived near Concord, MA during the Bicentennial and my memories of the celebrations of 1975 & 1976 are all of a piece. Our Constitution's 250th is barely a decade away and it's a practical thing we could focus on.
She has never met the organic Cheetos farmers of South Georgia. The fields of orange are ripening even as we speak! 😂
I will say, I have a real sense of loss over the country's 250th. I love America, the idea of America, the Declaration, the Bill of Rights, MLK Dream Speech. I don't know if or when we get that America back again but we should be celebrating America together. Instead it will be a Trump spectacle.
If y'all have not seen it, Trump has now announced on Truth Social that the July 4th celebration will be a "Trump Rally". Essentially giving the middle finger to half of America.
