What are you talking about? Covid-SARS2 is airborne, just like SARS1. Even the WHO eventually admitted it.
After Greyhound cut stops in 2005, the only non-car way out of my 60,000+ college town was a every-2-hours airport shuttle to the Indianapolis airport. No coach buses, no passenger trains (I think we did have freight though)

The cars also crash into vehicles and pedestrians, probably at higher rates.
And short of derailment, if a train hits something, the something got in the way of the train. The train can't make mistakes, it's on rails.

- Meningitis ACWY vaccine is offered free on the NHS to university students. No outbreak.
- Meningitis B vaccine costs hundreds of pounds privately, no NHS offer. Outbreak.
I hope someone can figure out this mysterious correlation.
It's better not to have level crossings but if you are considering harm reduction it's better to have a train sooner (reducing cars on road/traffic deaths) than to wait decades to rebuild hundreds of miles of intersections or not build them at all due to lack of funding.
