Today is Bob Dylan's 85th birthday. About a year ago, I published a few playlists honoring him on my mixtape delivery service.
I'm doing that social media thing where you share an old post on a day it has renewed relevance for the algorithms…
#ThankYouSteveAlbini — an eternal reminder that music and the music business can be done in an idiosyncratic yet successful way.

My spouse Jess Gibson just published The Good Eye, her debut short story collection.
We made a playlist inspired by it—her description was "a mixtape about rats, ghosts, and death."

There's no question this ever-morphing poet-trickster is the artist I return to most. In what can feel like the waning days of human creativity, his life feels like a retort to the doubters — proof that creativity will always win, however rough it is on those who use art to bring form to chaos.
